After the Interview

After an interview, it is important to follow up with the employer. Thanking the interviewer for their time is the most important action you can take after the interview.
Follow up by email message and thank you letters.
-
Send a thank you letter or email to everyone who
interviewed you. After your interview, write down a few
notes about your conversation to remind yourself of the
topics you discussed in the interview and points you want
to hit in your letter.
-
Email is the fastest way to say thank you, but consider a
handwritten thank you note. It shows that you care enough
to take the time to write a note. Make sure, if you are
writing a letter, to use your best handwriting.
-
Don't wait to send your note. You should send the letter
within 24 hours of the interview- sooner if you are
emailing.
-
Use your follow-up note to reiterate your interest in the job.
Tell the interviewer why you are qualified and highlight all
of your skills related to the job.
-
Make sure to proofread your letter before you send it. Any
error could knock you out of the job.
Follow-up phone calls are acceptable too.
-
Even though it is easier to send an email, following up with a phone call can help you get the job. Calling the employer to say thanks shows that you have a strong communication skills.
-
If you are nervous, make a list of points you would like to hit while you are talking on the phone.
